The mission:
Our mission is simple: to glorify God, serve excellent coffee, and love people well. Wherever the road—or tide—takes us, we hope to create a welcoming place where good coffee, genuine hospitality, and faith come together.
From our little beginning on the Peninsula to our home in Smithfield, we’re grateful for every place God allows us to go and every person He allows us to serve. We’re here to bring good coffee wherever the tide takes us, and to leave people with a little more joy, encouragement, and kindness than they came with.Owning a coffee business had been a dream of mine since I was young, but I never imagined I’d actually get to live it. God had other plans. He opened doors I never expected, provided when I didn’t know how things would come together, and continually guided me in ways that could only be from Him. Heron’s Nest exists because He made a way.
Great Blue Herons have always held a special meaning for me. Here in Smithfield, they’re a familiar sight along the marshes and rivers that surround our hometown. But beyond their beauty, God has used them time and time again to bring me peace, encouragement, and little reminders that I’m exactly where He has called me to be. That’s why this business carries their name. It’s personal, it’s purposeful, and it’s a reminder of who made this dream possible.
Inspired by Psalm 23:5, “...my cup overflows.” More than a phrase on our menu, “May Your Cup Overflow” is our prayer—that your cup would be filled not only with good coffee, but with joy, peace, kindness, and the goodness of God.
Good coffee wherever the tide takes us.
May your cup overflow.
